A PRETENDING BASTARD II

WAS Waleed truly a bastard? Was he truly an illegitimate child (as read in the previous post)?

No one in the whole of Mecca, could tell, but his mother. He therefore approached her, asking “the lord of Muhammad has identified me with seven different names: and to all of them I agree as being part of me, but one. He called me an illegitimate child, unless you tell me the circumstance behind my birth, I shall put you to death”.

The mother of Waleed then shivered from the threat of death” and after a while, she confessed to having been impregnated by a Bedouin Arab who was a shepherd at the outskirt of Mecca, while Mugeerah-his supposed father- was away in Syria. This fact was hitherto unknown to everybody in the streets of Mecca until that revelation. How truthful is the word of Allah, the Qur’an!

Waleed was therefore humiliated with this tale of woe which was spreading so fast in his neighborhood. His pride was hurt and his ego shattered as he fell on his knees, shedding tears of sorrow, neither for the loss of a child; nor for a loss of wealth, but for the loss of honour; for, in the words of a poet,” as for the loss of honour, no man can restore” look at a wise ignoramus!

In those verses which exposed his false paternity, Allah had vowed to strike Waleed, the son of Mugeerah, upon the snout the snout here literally means: “trunk” - the nose of an elephant or pig. According to some account, Waleed‘s nose was pointed and heavy, akin to that of a pig. So Allah promised to strike his nose and disfigure his as a recompense for his obstinate rebuff of the divine message; and this had, indeed, come to pass in a fierce battle.

It was narrated that Waleed the son of Mugeerah’s feet slipped off the height of a raised platform and he died from the injury sustained.

What the shameful end of the wise ignoramus! Waleed bn al - Mugeerah!
