WHAT HAPPENS AFTER PRODUCT EXPIRY DATE?

Could you believe i went to the market this morning? don't be amazed. you think me a woman? no! i still remain a man. No! a guy! (laughs).
I went to the open market to buy a carton of 50 cans of A tomato paste (Brand name withheld). wandering what i want to use them for? never mind. please read on.
Upon entering a shop, the owner confirmed she had it and was selling for #1350. Happily, i told her to give me
a carton as i had actually looked for it in about 3 shops but to no avail. Besides, the price was also lower than what i bought it for about 3 months ago.
however, my excitement was short lived as she told me that: "i will advice you not to buy up to a carton as the expiry date is September except you are a high consumer", meaning except if you can finish the 50 cans before September.

Profusely, I thanked her for being so honest as i would have paid for the tomato without even remembering to check for the manufactured and expiry dates. i chose another brand which still had about a year shelf life. But just before i finished paying, a lady came and asked for the same brand which i asked for. The seller explained to her as she did to me but the lady brushed the expiry date issue aside saying the tomato will not harm her even if she consumes it two months after the expiry date on the carton.
she paid for the carton of tomatoes and left the shop while i stared after her staring in disbelief. Her action got me wondering how many people actually adhere to expiry dates warning.
I am posting this to involve all my beloved readers in this issue by asking this simple question:
Are there inherent dangers in consuming food or using items that have expired?
I'm sure you have the best answer for this.
please give your answer/reply in the comment box below for you may be the one to save a life if there is any danger in consuming expired food or items..

Processed foods, Preserved foods have been found in some studies to be associated with increased cancer risks.... Even before d expiry date, they are not good for our health..... And now Most Milk, tomato paste e.t.c are GMO (genetically modified) foods which are not good too... So my answer to d question will be: 'after expiry date, you are open to CANCER'

It's sad that we don't take note of minute details such as the expiry date of goods. That woman's case is even worse coz she knew the expiry date but still went ahead to purchase it. Probably due to the low price.

poverty is a disease, as they say. She surely went for d expired goods because of d low price as you have opind. That is what poverty leads one to. We seek refuge with God from poverty of all kind.
Thanks for taking time to comment.
