A REVIEW
The work begins with a quotation from a scholarly and seminal book written by the great scholar and reformer Abu Ja’far Al-Waraaq At-Tahaweeh which affirms some of the basic and fundamental creed of Islam regarding the portents of the hour particularly the descents of Jesus (PBUH) from the heavens.

The object of the research work as evidenced by the preface to the book is to:

  • Correct the grievous misconception about Jesus (PBUH).
  • Confute the specious and frivolous claims of those who reject the fact that Jesus(PBUH) is not dead and will indeed descend at the end of time.
  • Dispel any doubt and misgiving which might remain in the mind of the doubters.
  • Liberate the erring Muslims from the abyss of misguidance.
  • Ensure that the pristine Islamic creed is preserved.
To achieve these ambitious aims of his, the author succinctly lays down the source and principle from which every Islamic ruling and in which every Islamic tenets, doctrines and creed are inexorably anchored. Hence we have the Quran, Sunnah (prophetic traditions) and the understanding of the pious predecessors on religious matters. These three fundamental sources serve as the pivot on which every argument and hence every claim must necessarily and inevitably rotate.
Having gone through the book I find it highly estimable and simply "unputdownable". Every page beams with the light of knowledge and guidance. The arguments and contentions are very powerful, well-grounded and unanswerable. Furthermore, the critical analysis and extensive anatomy of related controversial or ambiguous scriptural (Quran and Sunnah) texts are supplied. The fact that the reader is invited to logical reasoning and dispassionate outlook enables him/her to flow along with every point made. I also find praiseworthy the opinions and views of scholars which dominate the book. Apparently motivated by the irresistible and overwhelming urge to see the pristine Islamic creed preserved particularly as regards to the work under review coupled with the passion to see every Muslim possess the correct creed the author establishes with immense conviction the descent of Christ(PBUH) at the end of time using convincing and irrefutable evidences from the Quran and Sunnah and from the writings of great scholars of the past and present generation so that even the most hardened mind and the most biased soul would be compelled to surrender.
It is worthy to acknowledge here that though works of great scholarly repute and erudition have been written on this topic under review we often find them too voluble and erudite to penetrate, however the work under review serves as an excellent compendium to all such books due to its simple and clear style.
Needless to say for the deviant pseudo-scholars who still labour under the false illusion over the death of Jesus(PBUH) and arrogantly reject his descent, the flaw and dubiousness of their claims and arguments have not only been laid bare and duly confuted but in a remarkable style and with an amazing prowess.
However the elegant feature of this book would not make me play possum to some few cavils I have about it. First, I observe the writer’s deafening silence about where the false belief about Jesus (PBUH) emanate from. It is common in knowledge that the seed of these lies was sown by the distorted, corrupt and misguided teachings of Christianity. Mentioning this would have answered the question of a curious reader. I also wonder why quotations from crooked and unreliable ‘scholars’ are cited. It is in contrast to the fundamental and ethical norms of our pious predecessors to support their arguments with the statements and writings of the innovators.
But for these, there can be no doubt that this is an excellent work and an indispensable tool for all students of knowledge. It is a great pleasure to be able to recommend this book wholeheartedly. It is hoped that this masterpiece will point the way to truth and guidance for the Muslims and non-Muslims at large. YOU just NEED TO GET A COPY!
