It
is a fact that the path to greatness is basically rough, tortuous, and in most
cases, long. Success doesn't come alone. It comes through perseverance.
Perseverance is being able to bear difficulties with patience without
complaints. Along the line one often meets with failures and frustrations. In
fact, there is no one of substance today who has not failed while trying to get
there.
My
beloved reader, do you know that Albert Einstein, the pioneer of atomic energy
was a write off in academic work? Out of
anger his teacher once told him,
“you will never amount to very much” (the book of heroic failures by Stephen pile, page 216). Yet he amounted to much, much, much! The name of the teacher has been forgotten long ago but Einstein lives on!

Isaac
Newton was a dullard and was born post-humors. His performance at school was too
bad. He was withdrawn from school on account of this and later sent back. He
even failed a scholarship exam in1663 due to woeful inadequacy in geometry. He
however wriggled out of trinity college Cambridge, with a pass degree in
mathematics/optics. Yet, Newton achieved eminence in the world of science. He is
said to be the father of modern science.
Thomas
Edison, the inventor of filament lamp (electric bulb) failed about 10,000 times
before success came to him. We can go on and on.
In
politics, Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), the 16thpresident of USA who
was assassinated in April 14, 1865 after 49 months in office failed and failed
until failure became his first name. He had only one year of formal education
because of his poverty yet he became president at last! In his book, the
success principles that never fail, Dave Dean chronicled Lincoln’s failure
profile in this way
Year event
1831 failed in business
1832 defeated for the
legislature
1833 failed again in business
1834 elected for the
legislature
1835 fiancée died
1836 had nervous breakdown
1838 defeated for speaker
1840 defeated for elector
1843 defeated for land
officer
1846 elected for congress
1848 defeated for congress
1848 defeated for senate
1856 defeated for vice
president
1858 defeated for senate
1860 elected president!
My
brother, now answer this question: did the 13 failure as recorded deter him from
pressing ahead to achieve his vision of becoming president of the so called most
powerful nation of the world? NO OF COURSE!!
friend,
dream big and work harder. Everyone who competes in a game goes into strict
training. Unburden your mind by “throwing off everything that hinders”, for no
one successfully climbs a mountain by tying a rock to his
waist.
